boldly shaped agates are the new trend

What struck me as fresh and exciting at booth after booth at this year’s show was the bold use of shape and angle to show off the beauty and diversity of agates. Humans have explored this for millenia–the ancient Tibetan eye–and more recently humans have let agates speak for themselves in bookends and windchimes. Framing the colors and bands of agate in these squares, circles and twists is a new creative direction. And these huge wavy agate donuts, drilled through, allow me to make elaborate, complications with center beads to create one-of-a-kind focal pieces!
